I don't buy Franson will leave for Europe. His NHL career is just picking-up.

at least we get to see most of the regular D playing tonight. as for Franson going to europe, that might actually be a good thing for the leafs if they can manage to ice a solid group without him this year and then still have his rights for next season when theoretically they have other players resigned and he will have even less leverage

I truly think that Toronto believes they can replace Franson from within the organization ,which is kinda scary but we do have a lot of young D prospects that can potentially fill that role. The scary thing would be if there were to be any injuries in our top four on D, if that were to happen theres not a whole bunch of players on the marlies that can fit that role. Mayson Raymond has looked really good in the blue and white but is signing him worth potentially losing Franson?

He's losing leverage not playing. If the season starts well for Toronto, and he's not getting paid hell cave, but he may have to start on the bottom pair

I have a feeling that if/when he finally agrees, and if he gets a slow start or injuries which usually happens with hold outs he will hear from the Leaf fans and get the McCabe/Murphy deal and ride out of town on a sheet of boo's. I hate that there are Leaf fans that do that but its what happens.

Raymond will likely play on the third line and fill in when need be on the top 2 which is a nice player to have. Ideally you'd get rid of Liles and sign both but I guess that's harder said then done

But is it? Nonis is smart, why close doors or options if you dont have to? Maybe he has offers on the table, just waiting to see how camp, injuries and what happens to other teams rosters, who knows edit
